Pop Culture Jeopardy!’ Moves to Netflix for Season 2 After a Successful First Run

Pop Culture Jeopardy! is officially returning for a second season — and this time, it’s changing platforms. After debuting on Prime Video during its inaugural run, the pop-culture-centric spinoff of the iconic quiz show is packing its bags and heading to Netflix, where it will premiere sometime in 2026.

The move marks a notable shift for the franchise, as Netflix continues to deepen its investment in game shows and interactive entertainment. Pop Culture Jeopardy!, known for its energetic pace and fresh twist on the classic Jeopardy! formula, quickly developed a dedicated audience when it first streamed late last year and into early 2025. Now, the streamer hopes to build on that momentum.

Saturday Night Live castmember Colin Jost, who hosted the first season, is currently in talks to return. His warm, quick-witted style was widely praised by viewers and critics alike, and his presence helped solidify the show’s upbeat personality. If negotiations finalize, Jost would once again lead contestants — this time in teams — through a game board packed with film trivia, TV deep cuts, music history, celebrity culture, viral moments, sports headlines, and everything in between.

Produced by Sony Pictures Television, Pop Culture Jeopardy! embraces the beloved Jeopardy! format while infusing it with a contemporary, highly accessible twist. Rather than the traditional solo-player setup, the show pits three-person teams against one another, creating fast-paced collaboration, lively banter, and a dynamic that feels as much like a friendly pub-night competition as a televised quiz show. The format allows for strategy, chemistry, and sometimes chaos — all of which contributed to the show’s charm in season one.

Another innovation from the first season likely to return is the “Triple Play” answer, a unique feature that gives teams a chance to triple their points. To snag the bonus, each member of the team must provide one of three possible correct responses. The rule encouraged teamwork, high-risk gambles, and some of the show's biggest and most memorable swings.

The show’s return and its move to Netflix come with strong enthusiasm from Sony’s leadership. Suzanne Prete, president of game shows at Sony Pictures Television, expressed excitement about the partnership in a statement announcing the renewal.

“Pop Culture Jeopardy! captivated an audience with its fun and energetic game play, building on the beloved franchise and offering fans an opportunity to test their zeitgeist knowledge,” Prete said. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be partnering with the exemplary team at Netflix to bring more episodes to our passionate and loyal viewers.”

The show’s executive producer, Michael Davies — who also oversees other Jeopardy! properties — has been instrumental in shaping the spinoff’s identity. Under his guidance, Pop Culture Jeopardy! has balanced the intellectual spirit of the Jeopardy! brand with the enthusiasm and immediacy of modern pop culture, making it both approachable and addictive.

Netflix has been steadily expanding its competitive entertainment slate, and the addition of Pop Culture Jeopardy! signals the streamer’s faith in recognizable franchises with built-in fanbases. For viewers, the move could also mean increased visibility and easier global access, two areas where Netflix excels.

With production gearing up and the platform transition underway, anticipation is building for Pop Culture Jeopardy!’s sophomore season. Whether you’re a trivia buff, a pop culture junkie, or someone who simply loves watching people debate the finer points of sitcom lore and blockbuster history, the show’s return promises another round of fast-paced, personality-filled competition.

For now, fans can look forward to 2026, when Pop Culture Jeopardy! makes its Netflix debut — bringing team-based trivia, nostalgic throwbacks, and zeitgeist-testing questions back into the spotlight.
